Harry Coumnas is Trained to Handle Other Technical Astronaut Responsibilities as Mission Specialist

Harry Coumnas, a mission specialist, is skilled to walk the red surface on Mars. He works on space shuttles and works on the ISS. He is trained to handle other technical astronaut responsibilities. He coordinates operations within the spacecraft and serves in a role that requires the management of the many everyday tasks that are necessary to keep the spacecraft functional and livable for its inhabitants.

As a mission specialist, he works closely with payload specialists who might be on the board. He is added to missions with unusual tasks that require individuals with specific expertise that the astronauts do not possess. He received training in the area of equipment operations and is prepared to make repairs in space to aircraft, including, to space stations.

As a renowned astronaut, Harry Coumnas handles exterior repairs either through space walks, which involves him leaving the interior of the spacecraft in a special suit. He also makes the repairs from inside of the spacecraft. Pilots usually work with him on repairs and on the occasional retrieval of satellites.

Harry Coumnas researches activities because he is integral to the research work being done by many scientists. He helps design the many types of research studies conducted in space. He spends much of his day conducting scientific experiments. He overcomes various challenges of astronauts in space, and helps them find solutions and opportunities posed by the environment of a space station.
